HONOLULU - This map depicts the course the James family members took along their voyage before their Feb. 8 rescue. The voyage took the three-man crew from Mexico to approximately 300 miles northeast of the Big Island of Hawaii. The boat became disabled while in rough seas. The crew called the Coast Guard, who coordinated the rescue with the Horizon Reliance cargo vessel, registered to the Automated Mutual Assistance Vessel Rescue System. U.S. Coast Guard illustration.
